Finding cool stuff to Twitter about can be a lot of work. It’s nearly a full time job in itself – well it used to be anyway.
I’m going to share two secret techniques for taking the work out of your Twittering. One solution is free and it’s the one I’ve been using to date.
The other is about $20 and it’s the one I’m going to use all the time from now on.
Twitter Solution Tip #1
Sign-up for a StumbleUpon account. You don’t even have to add a profile unless you want to connect with people and use Stumble in the correct manner. This tip is just about how to get cool content for Twitter, it’s not really about SU at all.
I digress… You can Stumble stuff by category so go ahead and select something you like. Hit the big Stumble button and ‘hey presto’, there’s a cool site. If you like the site hit the twitter button in the Stumble toolbar and a new browser window opens with your twitter from the Stumbled site.
Click submit, rinse and repeat.
I tend to do this about 3 times a day, about 3 – 4 Stumbled sites each time. People will start following you even without you following them if they like your Twitts.
Bonus Twitter Tip
Lets say I want to connect with graphic designers on Twitter. I Stumble graphic design websites on Stumble. I then Twitter them and go and follow a bunch of graphic designers in Twitter. Most who are still actively using their accounts will follow you back, and the world goes round for another day.
This is a bit slow in itself and it’s time consuming thanking everyone for following back but it works and it’s better than trying to find sites unaided.
